Necropoli di Sos Furrighesos
The hypogean necropolis of Sos Furrighesos is located in the territory of Anela in central northern Sardinia. It is made up of eighteen domus de janas, excavated on three overlapping horizontal levels, in a trachytic ridge, and has been extensively studied and excavated which have allowed this site to be dated to a period between the final Neolithic and the age of Ancient bronze. The tombs have structures, simple or multi-celled, with an antechamber usually used to practice cults and funeral rituals, as evidenced by the cupels that furnish them. They are rich in architectural details that evoke the terrestrial dwelling of the buried such as columns, pillars, beds and hearths. Of particular interest is the majestic "tomb of the king" which is accessed through denticles carved into the rock and which is distinguished by the presence on the façade, of an arched style and a pair of upside-down bull horns, with engravings inside: everything does to think that this place was the abode of the eternal rest of a rich and powerful man.
