Villaggio nuragico di Tiscali

Description

The Village of Tiscali is an archaeological treasure kept in Sardinia, in a suggestive corner of the Barbagie, on the border between the Supramonte di Oliena and that of Dorgali, inserted in a unique environmental context that attracts thousands of hikers every year. On the top of Mount Tiscali there is a huge karst sinkhole within which the remains of the village are visible, consisting of two agglomerations and built during the Nuragic Age, then renovated during the Roman era. It can be accessed through an opening and is visible only by passing through this cavity to be able to admire the remains of forty circular huts with particular roofs and other buildings with a rectangular and square shape. It was the ideal place to build a village thanks to the micro climate that can be enjoyed, cool in summer and warm in winter, as well as to hide in fact the populations who lived there could easily control all the movements of the Lanaitto valley and possibly have the time to organize the defense or escape on the other side, the Oddoene valley, a more fertile and welcoming territory and where the Flumineddu stream flows. At the center of the sinkhole there is a single point where the sun filters and illuminates a suggestive forest of holm oaks and mastic trees.
