Description
The nuragic village of Ruinas extends in an area rich in vegetation at the foot of the Gennargentu at 1205 meters above sea level. Unique in Sardinia for its position, it includes a three-lobed nuraghe, the remains of a sacred well and about 200 huts. The structure, in good condition, includes a tower, a courtyard and a small staircase. According to popular tradition it is said that this village was inhabited until 1400 and then abandoned following a terrible pestilence.
