Nuraghe Majori

Nuraghe Majori, the most important and well-known in Gallura, is located about two kilo meters from Tempio Pausania, in the locality of Conca Marina.The position in which it is located and the massive aspect in which it presents itself are evidence of how important it was in the past,differentiating itself from the other Nuraghi present through out the Gallura  Single tower Nuraghe,built entirely of granite with a circular plan, has the entrance facing east-south-east,to shelter from the mistral wind and to make the most of the sunlight. From the architectural point of view,it is a mixed type Nuraghe; "corridor" Nuraghe due to the presence of a corridor that cuts the entire wall mass longitudinally, and at the same time, there are characters of "a tholos" Nuraghi (false dome) in the covering of the two ovoid-shaped rooms that open left and right of the corridor.
