Description

The Village of Tiscali represents one of the most evocative and intriguing late Nuragic settlements, hidden within a huge natural cave that is not easy to access, in a harsh corner of the Supramonte of Barbagia on Mount Tiscali. The location of the village in such a well hidden site has given rise to multiple suggestions and interpretations, the most accredited seems to be that of a refuge for the Sardinia people during the Roman conquest of Sardinia. The settlement consists of about a hundred rooms and rooms distributed to the north and south of the sinkhole, some walls lean directly on the rocky walls or exploit the shape of the rock. The structures have a rectangular, quadrangular, circular or elliptical plan. The settlement of Tiscali represents a unique case for topographical and architectural originality still under study.
