It is uninhabited and faces the famous Torre di Coltellazzo which dominates the whole city; it belongs to the Navy and acts as a lookout tower that is self-powered with solar energy. The Tower was built by the Spaniards towards the end of the 16th century A.D. and was part of the island's defensive system to counter the terrible raids of Barbary pirates. 16 meters high and with a slightly smaller diameter, today still used as a lighthouse, it had access to about six meters above the ground, which was reached by climbing a retractable wooden ladder.
