L'Isola di Vacca

Isola di Vacca is located in the extreme south of Sardinia, near the island of Sant'Antioco and the Isolotto Vitello. There is a small quay connected to a staircase that leads to a small building. It is characterized by dark red volcanic rocks, heavily eroded by the wind. The vegetation, totally destroyed by fire in 1901, is limited to a few shrubs of mauve mastic and wild garlic. Some species of birds nest in this area, including the herring gull, shag and shear water.
