Isola dell'Asinara

The wonderful Asinara Island is located in the province of Sassari on the north west coast of Sardinia. Since 2002 the whole island has been declared Asinara National Park. It has a corner like paradise where you can spend a few hours relaxing surrounded by nature and a crystal clear sea. It is not difficult to meet dolphins or the albino white donkey, the identity symbol of the island. Until the last century, on the island there was a maximum security prison, (among the inmates there were several prominent figures of the mafia) today it is abandoned. For reasons of personal safety, the late judges Giovanni Falcone and Paolo Borsellino also stayed there.
