Description

The beach of Cala Biriola (or Cala Biriala) is located in the territory of Baunei, inside the Gulf of Orosei in the central eastern part of the island, halfway between other wonderful paradises of the Ogliastra coast, such as: Cala Goloritzé and Cala Luna , and near Grotta del Fico and Cala Sisine. It is a small corner of paradise: framed by a rocky arch on the surface of the water against which the waves break. The extremely clear water and rich in fish make it suitable for scuba diving or swimming with a mask and snorkel. The beach is made up of very white rounded pebbles, protected behind it by a high limestone cliff and by a vegetation of Mediterranean scrub, centuries-old holm oaks and junipers. What characterizes this cove, in addition to the crystalline sea with shades ranging from intense green to blue, is the wild nature of the place, accessible by land through a long and challenging path recommended for more trained trekking lovers, or by sea, starting from Arbatax, Santa Maria Navarrese or Tortoli.
