The Necropolis of Filigosa is located in the territory of Macomer, in central northern Sardinia, and gave its name to the Abealzu-Filigosa culture which developed between 2700-2400 BC. This important necropolis is made up of four multicellular Domus de Janas, inserted on a tuffaceous hill and characterized by the presence of long access dromos carved into the rock. Inside these corridors you can see the various cells (with cupels and the ritual hearth in the center of the floor) among which the first is larger than the others. The necropolis was used for funeral rites which included the stripping and burial which was secondary here, that is, with the inmetation different from the original one and not in a physiological position. Discovered in 1965, it was used by the Port of Sardinia from the third millennium BC. until the early second millennium BC Nearby you can see the remains of the imposing Ruju Nuraghe which dominates the necropolis from the hill on which it stands.
