Tomba Ipogeica di Campu Lontanu

Description

The hypogeum of Campu Lontanu is inserted in an area of considerable historical-archaeological importance: a territory that had an intense human presence from the Neolithic to the Middle Ages, with a particular concentration of settlements in the Nuragic and Roman periods. The Tomb of Campu Lontanu, is located in the municipality of Florinas and is a funerary monument of the type called "domus with architectural prospect", characteristic of the Sassari area. The Tomb was obtained by excavating a limestone boulder detached from the nearby Rocca Bianca ridge. On the main façade, with an entrance, an "arched style" almost four meters high was built on the top of which three small betyls (sacred stones) were originally placed. On the rear facade there is another small entrance, perhaps from an earlier period.
