Villaggio Nuragico di Seruci
The Nuragic complex of Seruci extends over six hectares in the territory of Gonnesa, in the Sulcis-Iglesiente area and includes a multi-lobed nuraghe, a vast village of over one hundred huts and a Giants' tomb. The large nuraghe, located on a hill that presumably had strategic importance, is formed by a central keep fifteen meters high, originally composed of three superimposed cells, surrounded by five towers, some in good condition. Most likely the tops of the towers must have been crowned with stone battlements, later found at the base of the structures during excavations that began in 1897 and then resumed in 1917 by Antonio Taramelli and continued periodically until a recent restoration. The tower is made up of numerous cells whose floors, perhaps to isolate from the ground, were lined with cork.
