DOUGLAS MAWSON

The Douglas Mawson is the newest expedition cruise ship in the Aurora Expeditions fleet. It entered service in late 2025 and was christened in Sydney. It is named after the Australian explorer and geologist Sir Douglas Mawson. The ship is ice-strengthened and features the Ulstein X-BOW hull, which cuts through the waves to reduce pitching and fuel consumption. It carries up to 154 guests (130 on polar voyages) in 86 cabins across 8 decks, including single and interconnecting cabins. On board are restaurants, a heated pool, Jacuzzis, a gym, a sauna, a lecture theatre and a Citizen Science Center. It sails to Antarctica, the Arctic, Iceland, Greenland and the Mediterranean.
