The Cathedral of Nuoro, better known as the "Cathedral of Santa Maria della Neve", patron saint of the Sardinian city, it is considered one of the most beautiful churches in Sardinia. It stands on a hill that the Nuorese call "sa tanchitta". The Cathedral in neoclassical style, is a monumental building that overlooks a large square in the historic city center. The exterior of the church is characterized by a facade reminiscent of a classical age temple, with four majestic semi-columns in granite. The façade is framed by two identical bell towers, covered at the top by a small dome. The interior has a single and wide nave with barrel vaults, in which there are three chapels on each side, communicating with each other and equipped with semicircular apses. The Cathedral is the main place of Catholic worship in the whole of Nuoro.
