Isola Piana is located in north-western Sardinia, in the municipality of Alghero, within the protected marine area of Capo Caccia. Consisting of limestone cliffs overlooking the sea, it is an islet about 105 meters above sea level and owes its name to the slightly flattened shape that it presents on the top. The west side of the island, in front of Capo Caccia, is part of the off-limits area of the Marine Protected Area, where the integral reserve is in force. The ban is well marked with luminous buoys. In the accessible part it is possible to arrive exclusively by boat starting from Porto Conte or Alghero. This evocative island, immersed in a wonderful environmental context, was the setting for a film "The cliff of desires" with R. Burton and E. Taylor.
