Museo archeologico "Villa Abbas"

Description

The "Villa Abbas" Archaeological Museum is housed in a building from the early twentieth century in the municipality of Sardara, in southern Sardinia. Inside you can admire finds ranging from the Neolithic to the late medieval period, exhibited in eight rooms, arranged on two floors. The main finds present in each display case are exhibited in a parallel tactile path of the shelves in which the faithful copies of the ceramics preserved in the display cases are placed, with drawings executed in relief. In this way, through touch, even the blind have the opportunity to come into contact with the object and learn about its materials and shapes. The finds show the objects of daily life of the past, the materials used to procure food, to defend themselves, to build houses and defense structures. The museum displays almost all the artifacts found in the excavations of the archaeological area of Santa Anastasia, numerous skeletons from Roman burials, from an ancient necropolis on the outskirts of the town, with their respective funerary items. And finally, the finds from the Middle Ages from the castle of Monreale, which overlooks the town.
