Museo Diocesano d'Arte Sacra Alghero

The Diocesan Museum is located in the historic center of the city, near the cathedral, in the oratory of Our Lady of the Rosary, where the homonymous suppressed brotherhood founded in 1568 in the church of San Francesco was located. The museum, inaugurated on June 30, 2000, houses the liturgical treasure of the cathedral of Alghero and the other historic churches of the city. This Museum testifies to the importance of the Christian and devotional experience in the life of the population of Alghero and the diocese, through numerous works of art. The museum collection is divided into six sections: silver, paintings, wooden sculptures, cabinet making, stone material and bronzes.
