Museo Giovanni Patroni

Description

The Patroni Museum is housed in a period building in the historic center of Pula, dedicated to the findings in the ancient city of Nora and in the surrounding area. The exhibition presents themes related to the colonization of the territory and the foundation of the city, considered the oldest in Sardinia. A particular and important setting enriched by the use of nineteenth-century photographic documentation that illustrates the various phases of discovery and excavation, of the style and the Punic tophet of the V-III century. B.C. Of particular interest is the section dedicated to the objects found in the Capo di Pula seabed such as amphorae, anchors, Punic and Roman ceramics as well as the one dedicated to the Punic necropolis, among which the gold plate with the head of Gorgon, also used as the logo of the museum, stands out.
