Museo storico etnografico dei Cappuccini

Description

Kept in the Convent of the Capuchin Fathers of Sanluri, built in 1600 on a splendid hill in southern Sardinia, the Museum represents a piece of the city's history, born with the aim of enhancing the furnishings and sacred furnishings from all the Capuchin Convents of the region. The Museum is made up of artifacts and collections collected by the Friars: on the first floor there are illuminated choral paper documents, papal decrees dated from the 16th onwards; relics, statues of saints, tabernacles and monstrances. Another section is dedicated to painting with paintings from the 16th century and the collection of archaeological finds ranging from the Neolithic to the Paleochristian and Byzantine periods. Another sector contains ethnographic material and is dedicated to the reconstruction of daily life inside the Convent.
