The Giunco beach is located about three kilo meters from the town of Carloforte on the island of San Pietro, in the south-western extremity of Sardinia. The beach is characterized by medium-grained white sand mixed with gravel and small stones, with the presence of some branches coming from under the sand or broken trunks of pine trees, near the shoreline. The sea has a sandy and shallow bottom, which slopes gently towards the open sea, with colors ranging from light green to blue, transparent and crystalline, suitable for families with children. On the beach there is also an area reserved for pets, the only one on the island. The beach is also a popular destination for surfers thanks to the strong wind that blows a few hundred meters from the shore. Behind the old salt pans, now populated by pink flamingos and other numerous species of birds.
