Spiaggia di Palau Vecchio

Description

The beach of Palau Vecchio, in northern Sardinia, is located in the town of Palau, along the tracks of the old railway. A few steps further down the beach stretches, a 'carpet' of medium-fine golden sand, of a golden ocher color, bordered by a long promenade and behind it by a very green pine forest that offers a shadow point from the sunny beach, and the train station of the Green Train. Palau Vecchio offers a postcard landscape, enchanting and a little retro, a coastline to which the inhabitants of Palau are very fond, awarded several times with the Blue Flag of the Foundation for Environmental Education (Fee). The beach is ideal for families with children, thanks to the shallow sandy bottom and sheltered from the afternoon heat guaranteed by the pine forest, while the transparency of its waters makes it a suitable destination for snorkelling enthusiasts. It is accessible to the disabled thanks to a wooden walkway that leads directly into the water. The view in front of the beach is spectacular: the sea with reflections between emerald green and blue, on the horizon, gives way to the profile of Santo Stefano, behind, two islands of the Archipelago National Park; La Maddalena and Caprera.
