Description

The Grotta su Marmuri, (from the Sardinian marble cave), is located near Ulassai, in Ogliastra, in eastern Sardinia. The cave was formed one hundred and fifty million years ago thanks to the erosive force of water and is considered the most impressive in all of Europe. The vault, in fact, in some places, reaches seventy meters. Its position and size also make it unique: it opens at an altitude of eight hundred meters and extends for eight hundred and fifty meters that can be fully visited. It is accessed by descending two hundred steps and then continuing along a comfortable flat path that allows you to admire pools of water and impressive groups of stalactites and stalagmites. This beautiful cave is still alive, so much so that the concretions continue, despite the very slow pace, to form and transform its appearance.
