Description

The Marina di Orosei is one of the many wonders of the Gulf of Orosei, in the center of the eastern Sardinia coast. The Marina di Orosei is made up of about two kilo meters of beach of fine, clear and golden sand, mixed with shells and gravel, the largest beach in Orosei, just one kilo meter from the town. The long coastline of soft sand embraces the sea which, depending on the light, gives reflections from turquoise to blue, until it becomes almost transparent. It is near this beach that the Cedrino river ends its journey before joining the waters of the Tyrrhenian Sea, giving around a naturalistic context of high interest, with a vast wetland populated by a rich bird life. The seabed, compared to the other beaches in the area, is a little higher, with the formation of undertow that are not very visible on days when the sea is rough. Finally, due to its position, it is often beaten by winds, a feature that makes it ideal for surfers and water sports lovers. About two miles offshore, one of the most fascinating and well preserved wrecks submerged in the island sea lies on the bottom; the "KT", a German landing craft about seventy meters long, sunk in 1943 by the English submarine stationed in the gulf.
